BRI Sexual Harassment Prevention Training
The BRI is hosting two Sexual Harassment Prevention Trainings this summer. These trainings are interactive workshops conduced by labor law attorney Matt Persanis of Elefante & Persanis, LLP. They satisfy the requirements of the New York state mandate that all employees be trained annually in sexual harassment prevention, and those who complete the training will receive a certificate for your files. Because of the pandemic, these trainings will be hosted on Zoom. We will be limiting attendance at each session to a few dozen participants to ensure that we can maintain some amount of discussion and interaction, as required by the state guidance for these trainings. Registration is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. A video camera on each trainee’s computer, tablet, or smartphone is required for participation.
Each training takes approximately 90 minutes. They are open to all BRI member businesses or buildings (condos or co-ops) that are current in their dues and provided free of charge for as many as we can accommodate. Remember: New York State Law REQUIRES that ALL EMPLOYERS provide Sexual Harassment Prevention Training annually to ALL EMPLOYEES (regardless of number of employees, exempt/non-exempt status, full/part-time status, union/non-union, etc.) This year’s training must be completed by 10/9/2020. The deadline has not yet been extended by any of the Governor’s Executive Orders relating to the public health emergency. This BRI-sponsored workshop will meet the NY State-required sexual harassment prevention training requirements, and will outline requirements for a model sexual harassment policy, including complaint procedures.
