We’ll begin with informal networking and discussion at our new time of 5:00 PM.
The main program will begin at 6:00 PM.
Suburban communities like Westchester relied for decades on a thriving commercial real estate sector, including the suburban office park. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated trends of declining occupancy in the office market by pushing towards models like hybrid work. In the meantime, the demand for housing, including multifamily housing, has skyrocketed. With strong planning, adaptive reuse — the process of reusing an old site or building for a purpose other than which it was originally built or designed for — can help achieve multiple regional goals at once.
Jacqueline Novotny, Senior Vice President for CBRE, will be on hand to present their new research paper, Planning for Tomorrow, Today on the condition of the office market, the demand for multi-family housing, and the migration to a hybrid work model as an economic development catalyst. We’ll also see case studies from BRI developers to showcase the possibilities for delivering much-needed housing in place of underutilized buildings around the county.
