Webinar: What Westchester Needs to Know About SEQRA Reform
Thursday, June 11, 2026 | 4-5 pm
Significant reforms to the New York State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) to support infill housing were included in the 2027 fiscal year budget — a major win for building the housing we need in Westchester County and throughout New York State.
Join Regional Plan Association, Welcome Home Westchester and Open New York for a panel discussion about what the modernization of SEQRA entails and how it will affect building proposals locally, including:
- How the SEQRA changes specifically affect Westchester County municipalities and those who want to build here
- The shortening of the overall review process with a new two-year “shot clock”
- Identifying exemptions for proposals on previously disturbed land and projects of varying sizes
- The importance of exemptions for beneficial projects that include green elements
The webinar will include time for a Q&A with the panelists.
Panelists:
- Tim Foley | CEO and EVP of Building and Realty Institute
- Kirsten Bladh | Policy Manager, Open New York
- Joshua Berman | Campaigns Manager, RPA
