This is the Annual Membership Meeting for the Westchester-Putnam-Rockland affiliate of the National Associate of Home Builders (NAHB). Dues-paying businesses and organizations are simultaneously members in NAHB, in the New York State Builders Association (NYBSA), Building and Allied Construction Industries of Westchester (BACI), AND the Building & Realty Institute (BRI).

Our topic will be:

Where Can We Still Build? A Practical 2027 Housing and Development Outlook for Westchester, Putnam and Rockland

There has been some progress in addressing the housing shortage in the Greater New York City area, but we still have a long way to go. Many communities want to say that they are pro-housing and actively part of the solution, but which are the ones actively moving forward with projects and getting out of their own way in terms of letting us build the housing we need?

Our speakers will cover:

• Which Westchester, Putnam and Rockland communities are genuinely receptive to housing;
• Where transit-oriented development, adaptive reuse, accessory units and “missing middle” housing are still getting approved;
• Why projects become stalled in zoning, planning and SEQRA review;
• How builders can structure applications to reduce delay and opposition;
• Emerging state and local efforts to streamline housing approvals; and
• What builders should expect during 2027.
