UNDERSTANDING CHANGES TO NEW YORK STATE BUILDING & ENERGY CODES

New York State has implemented stricter building and energy requirements with updates to the Uniform Code and Energy Code that took effect on December 31, 2025. These updates align with the 2021 and 2024 International Code Council (ICC) model codes and introduce significant changes, including higher energy-efficiency standards, requirements for zero-emission heating systems and appliances, measures to reduce thermal bridging, and expanded electrification provisions that largely prohibit the use of fossil fuels in most newly constructed homes.

Designed for builders, remodelers, and code officials, this session bridges the gap between regulation and real-world construction—supporting better decisions in the field and more consistent, effective code implementation across New York State.

Guest Speakers:

  • Kevin Stack | Founder, CEO at Building in Nature’s Image
  • Josh Stack | Founder & Principal at Stack Resilience, LLC

This event is FREE for BRI and BACI members | $45 for non-members
