Housing and the State Budget – A Briefing for BRI Members
The New York State Budget passed on April 20, containing a number of policy changes related to the construction of new housing as well as to owning and operating existing housing, including rental apartments, cooperatives, condominiums, and other multifamily. Much attention has been made on the real estate market in New York City specifically, but some of the changes that will be most relevant to new and existing housing in Westchester County and the Hudson Valley warrant additional explanation. To that end, we’re convening two member briefings by Zoom to bring you up to speed on what’s happening when in your neck of the woods.
BRI CEO Tim Foley will walk members through:
* Good Cause Eviction outside New York City
* Changes to the Individual Apartment Improvement program for rent-stabilized properties
* Local tax exemptions for multifamily and accessory dwelling units
* Insurance non-discrimination for affordable housing
* New incentives for building limited equity co-ops
* And more
The same content will be presented during each briefing, so please register for the one most convenient to you.
