Annual BACI Membership Meeting – “Navigating Local Moratoria and Barriers to Building Housing”
Tuesday, September 30, 2025 | 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM
Join us for our Annual Membership Meeting for Homebuilders, Developers, and Remodelers!
We’ll begin with informal networking and discussion at 5:00 PM.
The program will commence at 6:00 PM.
On the one hand, we hear constantly from local and statewide policymakers and elected officials that our region needs to embrace building more homes for the sake of our local economies, affordability, and social policy. On the other, barriers and delays continue to plague efforts to get approvals out of state agencies like DEC and DOT. At the local level, we’ve seen a surge in building moratoria in individual cities, towns, and villages. Are these moratoria good faith efforts to study and manage potential impacts of development, or are they the latest instance of NIMBY activists weaponizing the law to stop whatever they don’t like?
Our annual membership meeting will be in two parts.
FIRST, we’ll hear the presentation “Moratoriums – Zoning Tools for Communities to Manage Development or the New NIMBY?”
THEN, we want to hear from YOU about problems you’ve encountered with State agencies or local municipalities — and what solutions the BRI, NYSBA, and BACI should be advocating for in the next year!
This is the Annual Membership Meeting for the Westchester-Putnam-Rockland affiliate of the National Associate of Home Builders (NAHB). Dues-paying businesses and organizations are simultaneously members in NAHB, in the New York State Builders Association (NYBSA), Building and Allied Construction Industries of Westchester (BACI), AND the Building & Realty Institute (BRI).
